We are very excited to have three-time conference speaker, & long time meetup member, Dan Chen presenting for the first time at the meetup. He'll be talking about RMarkdown, starting with the basics & working into advanced uses, such as building the meetup's new website.

About the talk:

RMarkdown allows you to create dynamic reports that interweave (R) code & prose text into a single document. It's come a long way over the years, & can be used for more than literate programming, all while using simple markdown notation. You can make documents, reports, dashboards, presentations, books, & even websites!

We will go "back to the basics," & start from what is markdown & reproducibledocuments, & move on to show how the "basics" all tie intoall the other presentation formats.

About Dan:

Daniel is currently a PhD Student at Virginia Tech in Genetics, Bioinformatics, & Computational Biology. His current area of research involves how ideas & behaviors spread in social networks. He is a Data Scientist with Lander Analytics,
and also serves as a DevOps Engineer in his research lab, the Social & Decision Analytics Laboratory, in Arlington, VA.

Pizzabegins at 6:30, the talk starts at 7, then after we head to the local bar.

Thank you toWork-Benchfor hosting.

Despite the difficulties with audio we will continue attempting live broadcastsand will hopefully resolve all the problems.

A big thank you to O'Reilly for sponsoring us again. They have two upcoming conferences & have given our group 20% discounts to both with code UGNYHACKR20. The first is the AI Conference, June 26-29. The second is JupyterCon August 22-25. The codeUGNYHACKR20works for both.
