The NY Tech Community & US State Department have teamed up to create software solutions for sustainable fisheries and fishers in developing countries.
You're invited to be a part of this in our first ever hackathon!
Join us at 7PM on Friday for the Fishackathon launch party at the Center for Social Innovation to honor the hackers that are building solutions for fisheries in developing countries.
The hackathon will begin immediately following the launch party at 10pm Friday evening at WeWork Lounge and continues until noon on Sunday.

Thomas Debass
Secretary Kerry's Deputy Special Representative for Global Partnerships
Thomas Debass is Secretary Kerry's Deputy Special Representative for Global Partnerships in the Office of Global Partnerships and is responsible for managing the office and provides leadership on partnerships related to economic growth, global finance, climate change, entrepreneurship, and startups/innovation. His recent partnership accomplishment includes Fishackathon, LIONS@FRICA (africa.co), La Idea (laidea.co), and Unreasonable@State.
Bren Smith
Executive Director, GreenWave
Bren Smith, GreenWave Executive Director and owner of Thimble Island Oyster Co., has pioneered the development of sustainable 3D ocean farming. A lifelong commercial fisherman, he was chosen as one of six Ocean Heroes by Oceana. He has been profiled by The New Yorker, Bon Appetit, and the Wall Street Journal and his writing has appeared in National Geographic and The Atlantic.
