EVENT DETAILS
On Thursday August 13th, we're focusing on the various identities that exist within the word HER. We know that women are beyond socially constructed stereotypes. HER story is the focus of this evening. We are very excited to host the event at Huge's beautiful offices in Dumbo.

It will be a night full of drinks, great conversation and the opportunity to hear stories of the women that are shaping the New York Tech industry.

Featuring stories and presentations from...

Tanya Menendez is the Co-Founder and CMO of Maker's Row, a Brooklyn-based online marketplace for American manufacturers with network of over 6,500 manufacturers and 75,000 designers and brands creating products in the USA. Growing up in California, Tanya studied technology and its socioeconomic impacts on rural economies at UC San Diego. Tanya's research in ethnography and sociology was published in several industry-leading journals. Before Maker's Row, Tanya managed operations within Google, Goldman Sachs and a leather goods line, The Brooklyn Bakery. While at The Brooklyn Bakery, she came up with the idea to create a platform for entrepreneurs to be able to easily access American manufacturers. Combining her experience in operations and automation with Matthew's experience in global manufacturing, they started Maker's Row.

Celia La is a software engineer at Knewton, an adaptive learning platform whose mission is to bring personalized learning to the world. More than 9 million students have used Knewton and are building partnerships with education programs in 19 countries. Celia is also a member of Women Who Code and the founding organizer for Write/Speak/Code, an initiative to empower women software developers to become thought leaders, conference speakers, and open source contributors via conferences, meetups, and events across the US. She also organizes the PyGotham conference and NYC Python meetup. In her free time, Celia enjoys biking, trying new recipes, playing jazz piano and sketching.

Eileen Lee is the COO of Venture for America. VFA's mission is to revitalize American cities and communities through entrepreneurship. As its 1st employee, Eileen has been actively involved in defining VFA's mission, core values and culture. She ensures that VFA runs smoothly and communicates effectively while fostering a healthy, yet competitive, team spirit. Her interests include all things VFA while outside of work she enjoys spin, yoga (in BK woot) and a solid bag of chips. VFA is now in over 15 cities and want to help businesses grow, create a path for recent grads to become successful leaders and entrepreneurs, and ultimately, help create 100,000 jobs by 2025.
