Description: 'Scrollytelling', where charts & photos animate as readers scroll through text, is more than just a design fad: it reflects a shift in how we think about data visualization on the web. This talk will explore the origins of the format, how it can be used to make complex ideas & charts more accessible, & some reasons why you might want to think twice before using it in your own stories.

Bio: Elliot Bentley is a journalist & programmer. As Deputy Director of Graphics at the Wall Street Journal, he is part of a team that produce interactive data visualizations on a wide range of subjects. He also runs open-source web app oTranscribe.com & is the founder of Journocoders, a London-based meetup group.
