How does the internet work?

This talk is for anyone who has wondered how the internet works under the hood (or needed to talk about it in a technical interview!). How does routing work? Why are IP addresses proliferating? How does information move around in LANs & ethernet? What is netmasking? This is the foundation to begin talking about security on the internet.

About Lena:

Lena is currently principal engineer at Meetup, where she has worked for the past 10 months. Prior to that Lena worked at Vitech for 12 years as a software engineer and architect. She is a full stack engineer and understands software architecture at the macro and micro levels. She has a background in information security and in leading efforts to build quality engineering teams. She is a strong believer in DevOps as an actual practice and not just the name of the team. She believes software is an art and that we should always be testing.

Please bring photo id to this Meetup so you can sign in with security.

Write/Speak/Code is for women, cis and trans, and is emphatically trans and queer friendly.
