<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><STRONG><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: underline;">The Case for Libraries</SPAN></STRONG></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Please join Forbes contributor and NYU marketing professor David Vinjamuri, along with a distinguished panel of industry leaders, as they make the case for libraries as a showcase for publishers.</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"><STRONG>Background:</STRONG></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;">How can publishers create new bestsellers in a world where Amazon controls online sales, Borders is gone and Barnes & Noble increasingly merchandises novelty items at the expense of books? With a half-million print and ebooks published last year, how can publishers hope to gain attention for promising newcomers and grow the sales of the mid-list?</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;">There's a place that entertained over 1.5 billion visits last year, where books are the central focus and patrons are hungry for something new and different to read. It's your public library. Vinjamuri and a stellar panel of leaders from the library and publishing worlds, will explain why libraries are the last great opportunity for publishers to promote book discovery and exactly how this can happen. </SPAN><BR> <BR><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"> This discussion opens with the premise that library patrons don't just borrow books, but <EM>buy </EM>them, and explains how an introduction to an author at the library leads to sales for the publisher. Throughout the discussion, publishers are invited to ask questions, offer input, and work with the panelists toward a "next step forward" for publishers and libraries.</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;"></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Vinjamuri will also share the details of a major new test this summer of publisher merchandising in public libraries, and why publisher/library cooperation is the only possible bulwark against price erosion and commoditization of the industry.</SPAN></DIV>
