Two amazing D3.js Talks:

Talk 1:

Title: Building a geo comparison app with D3

Description: I'll present Comparea, a web app I recently built using D3 which lets you compare the size of two geographic regions. I'll discuss the D3 features I used (geo projections, draggable, zoomable). I'll cover the process of sourcing data and hosting the site, as well as how I used screenshot testing to prevent regressions. Screenshot testing is a relatively novel technique for QA which is a particularly natural fit for projects which involve visualizations.

Bio: Danis a software engineer at Mt. Sinai's Hammerlab, where he works on genomic visualization for the web. He's based in Brooklyn, which is 3.1 times larger than Manhattan and 48% larger than San Francisco.

Talk 2:

Title: Next Level D3

Description: This talk is for folks who already use d3 and aspire to be d3 poets. We begin with a look at techniques for working with nested selections, the General Update Pattern, and d3's approach to reusable code. We'll then check out the merits of using d3 for UI building and DOM creation. Finally, time permitting, we'll examine abstractions applicable to visualization system architecture.

Bio: Amit is cofounder of NYC-based visualization studio TWO-N, where they design and build interactive data narratives and other data exploration tools using d3 and other JavaScripts.
