This is an event two years in the making. After seeing Kellan speak at InfoQ NY in 2012 (video here), I have been hounding him to do an event with us. Persistence paid off and we'll do a special fireside chat and Q&A with Kellan.

Kellan is CTO of Etsy, charged with building a world-class engineering team, scalable architecture and an engineering culture that embraces change, growth, rapid iteration, experimentation and collaboration at scale.
Before joining Etsy, Kellan worked as Flickr's architect during a period in which Flickr experienced 50x growth, helping pioneer significant architectural techniques. He was an early employee at Odeo (re-incarnated as Twitter) and helped launch the citizen journalism network Indymedia.org. Kellan is the author of several open source libraries, including MagpieRSS which is a key component of a large number of popular open source applications, and a co-author of the IETF security standard: OAuth.
In 1998, Kellan founded his first company, MetaEvents, which was acquired by Palm, Inc. in January 2000.

Getting There
Etsy is located at 55 Washington Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Be careful when mapping this NOT to enter the 55 Washington Street in Manhattan. We are near the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge. Our building has a metal ramp at its entrance. At the top of the ramp, you will see a glass wall. Looking through it, you will see "Fifty Five" scrolled out in blue neon.
The nearest trains are the A/C and the F. There is also parking in our building (access on Adams Street). Our main office is in suite 512 on the 5th floor. However, we will be hosting the event in our Etsy Labs, which are located on the 7th floor in suite 712.
