Visit us atMetisin New York City on Wednesday, December 2 at 6:30pm to see a Hadoop & Spark presentation by Dorothy Kucar, a senior software engineer currently working with distributed computing paradigms in digital advertising.
Enjoy pizza and drinks as Dorothy demonstrates the function and importance ofHadoop & Spark, the work-horses of distributed computing in the business world today, and fields questions about her new evening class at Metis beginning January 19 titled Big Data Processing with Hadoop and Spark.
Distributed computing is necessary because of the sheer volume of data (on the order of many terabytes or petabytes, in some cases), and it cannot fit into the memory of a single machine. Hadoop and Spark are both open source frameworks for distributed computing. Working with the two frameworks will provides the tools to deal efficiently with datasets that are too large to be processed on a single machine.
