How can you take temperature data from 1,001 US cities and crunch it into a compelling, yet shockingly simple interactive visualization?AlanaRange and Brian Kahn will show us how they did it in just four weeks, and received more than 2 million viewswithin weeks of its launch.

They'll show us their process for taking a spreadsheet and transforming it into a visual story with the potential to powerfully engage audiences. They'll cover story ideas, crunching data, sketching concepts, design, development and roll-out. Youll learn how to turn your data into shareable, engaging stories that get the traction you want.

Alana Range is the founder, CEO, and Creative Director at Radish Lab, an interactive agency focused exclusively on social impact projects. An award-winning journalist turned digital media producer, storyteller, and project manager of all things pixelated, Alana's been in the industry for over 12 years. She's worked across three continents but is a Brooklyn girl at heart, not to mention a born-and-raised Canadian, which makes her really nice. Her work has been recognized internationally in publications like Fast Company, the Guardian, CBC, NPR, Discover Magazine, and Mashable. Radish Lab was founded in 2012 from a shared desire to work with excellent people on meaningful projects. They've built world-class interactive experiences for the American Museum of Natural History and designed international ad campaigns for the UN Foundation.

Brian Kahn is a Senior Science Writer at Climate Central. He previously worked at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society and partnered withclimate.govto produce multimedia stories, manage social media campaigns and develop version 2.0 ofclimate.gov. His writing has also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Grist, the Daily Kos, Justmeans and the Yale Forum on Climate Change in the Media. In previous lives, he led sleigh ride tours through a herd of 7,000 elk and guided tourists around the deepest lake in the U.S.
