We have sessions coming up on two consecutive Thursdays. Jose Coronado, a member with a distinguished clientele, will bring us this session, the first one, on the last Thursday in March.

The impact of design in organizations continues to grow. We see more designers rising to leadership roles in the executive suite, in venture capital and in founding teams.

Some would argue that design already has a seat at the table and we should stop talking about it. However, reality shows a different picture as there are thousands of design teams at different levels of influence in their organizations.

For those design leaders who make it, a new stage of the journey begins. Exerting strategic influence and splicing design into the organizations DNA requires a multi-prong approach focused on communication, collaboration and culture. As organization leaders, we need to clearly articulate the business impact of design, so we can expand our sphere of influence. As team leaders, we have to create a robust and flexible process to help designers collaborate in multidisciplinary environments. In doing so we help them gain a better understanding of business, product and technology. As transformation agents, we need to lead the culture change to ensure that design becomes an integral part of the culture.

Jose Coronado is a design strategy consultant and speaker, who helps organizations maximize the value of their investment in design and innovation programs. Jose is the Principal at ITX Digital. Some of his clients include McKinsey, Accenture, Aquent, Bain Capital and AIG.

Light refreshments will be provided. The session itself will be about an hour, preceded and followed by meet-and-greet.

IxDA Northern NJ is a local chapter of the Interaction Design Association (http://www.ixda.org). Through our sessions, we seek to inspire and enable attendees to improve design for the user experience. To bring a good session together, we rely on individual initiative, contribution, sharing, and self-organization, which we apply over the course of time. Please let us know if you have an idea that could lead to a good session.
