An oft overlooked aspect of digital accessibility isironicallythe most popular type of document content on the Internet, the PDF. Even with the popularity of the format, the prevailing mindset in the communications industry is that creating accessible PDFs from a native file is too difficult, and is better handled by a vendor remediating the PDF post export. This session will focus on practical approaches to build an accessible document workflow that speaks to each role in the in-house creative team. The session will demonstrate effective PDF solutions to design challenges, and also outline vendor management solutions for building accessibility requirements into RFP's, contracts, and statements of work.

Bio
Damian Sian is a passionate Accessibility SME currently serving as the Senior Web Accessibility Advisor for Princeton University. Previously, Damian worked for Prudential Financial as a UX Designer and Accessibility Manager where he helped build effective training solutions to stand up teams in a globally distributed and highly regulated environment. In addition, Damian helped the Educational Testing Services build an accessible online test preparation tool for the state of Georgia. Damian holds a Masters of Science degree in Graphic Communications and a Certified Professional of Accessibility Core Concepts (CPACC) from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP).
