We are hosting a series of discussions focused on the philosophy of AI. Our motivating questions are whether today's LLMs have knowledge, whether they are conscious, whether they have agency, & finally whether they can be moral.
This week we consider how computers that are putatively purely syntactic can also be semantic, for which we will read & discuss this paper.
