Hey Canadian game devs! Let's connect!
Even though we're just a bunch of devs dotting a gigantic country--with thousands of kilometers between us--that doesn't mean we can't build meaningful connection with one another. There are lots of lessons to be learned, lots of relationships to be built...and a lot of grumbling about our cold (or rainy) weather.

On Wednesday, March 22nd from 11 AM to 2:30 PM, we will be gathering for lunch & light refreshments at Spark Social SF to celebrate & build solidarity within the Canadian game development scene.

We're looking to bring in some speakers to talk about the Canadian game dev landscape, so stay tuned for more!

About Interactive Arts Alberta
Interactive Arts Alberta (IAA) is a non-profit that is dedicated to celebrating games & game development in Alberta & Canada. IAA started in 2014 & incorporated in 2016, from a group of students at the University of Alberta. Since then, we have expanded our scope to a community economic development mission, where we do our best to contribute to building a better games industry.

And now, for a shameless plug...!

GDX 2023 in Edmonton, Alberta
IAA has supported game developers primarily through our marquee event, the Game Discovery Exhibition (GDX). This year, GDX 2023 will include a conference, with two days of professional development from July 19-20, where we will focus on AI, EDI, & solidarity amongst indie game developers.

GDX 2023 will also have a three day exhibition from July 21-23. The exhibition will take place at K-Days, which is Edmonton's largest festival, through a partnership with Explore Edmonton. While K-Days itself sees between 700K-1M attendees, this partnership has enabled us to be the largest gaming event in Canada, with a proven attendance of 40 000 people. If you are a developer looking to connect with an audience, GDX is a great place to market-test your games.

We strive to be an affordable event that is especially accessible to, indies, students, & marginalized communities. We are open to everything from board games, to student games, to indie, to AAA. While we primarily support Alberta studios, we have a soft spot for indie studios (especially ones that are made up of kind & empathetic humans). This year, we are opening up GDX 2023 to exhibitors from across the globe. We hope to see you in Edmonton in July!
