About This Class
Whether you're a student, recent graduate, or corporate professional, determining what your current work environment lacks and being able to transition successfully to a technology startup is an invaluable skill to possess. This class will help empower you to explore technology entrepreneurship by walking you through best practices tailored to the NYC tech startup community. We will highlight the differences, pros, and cons between startups and other more traditional workplace environments. We will also discuss how students can pivot their current skill sets to better market themselves to startups. The class lastly will cover how to successfully network with startups, their founders, and employees, while avoiding common pitfalls associated with coming from a slower, more corporate environment.

About the Instructors
Dhruv Vasishtha
Product, Medidata
Dhruv Vasishtha works on product management at the mobile health team for Medidata, a health technology company that delivers drugs to market faster through innovative clinical trial software. His focus is on building seamless experiences for patients leveraging mobile and connected devices. Dhruv also has experience in the early stage mobile technology space, as Chief-of-Staff of a funded mobile video startup and founder of Wellnest, a mobile mental health management platform. After graduating from Columbia University with a BA in economics, Dhruv was also a business consulting associate at ZS Associates focusing on user experience.
Kevin Miller
Director of Engineering, DIDiT
Kevin Miller is currently the Director of Engineering at DIDiT. He previously was the CTO at the social impact startup Propel. He previously was an engineer at a startup called Chatwala and co-founded two New York City-based startups: Wisdomly, a virtual events platform that was part of Princeton's Tigerlabs Accelerator and Chile incubator, as well as Rentista (now Lily), a tool for brokers to streamline the apartment rental process. Prior to joining the New York tech community, Kevin was an associate in KPMG's IT Risk group after graduating from Lehigh University with degrees in Finance and Computer Science. He is involved with the TEALS Computer Science volunteer program and enjoys snowboarding and building things.
