SF Game Development is excited to announce another in-person Meetup featuring Hedera & Liithos on Monday, March 20th at the Microsoft Reactor in San Francisco. Food & drink will be sponsored by Hedera, arrive early for some yummy pizza, beer, wine & our networking session starting at 5:30pm. Liithos game studio founder Michael Mumbauer will go on stage at 7:00pm. This event is open to the public & is a professional networking event for game developers, artists, students, indies, or really anyone interested in game development. If you are attending GDC 2023, this is a great event to checkout on Monday night.

Fireside Chat about Ashfall, a new triple-a game
In this fireside chat moderated by Jordan Schuetz, hear from CEO & Founder of Liithos, a brand new game studio based out of Los Angeles working on a new game called Ashfall.
Liithos wants to create a connected entertainment world, revolutionizing the way players experience triple-A gaming. Mumbauer was at Sony for 13 years, where he drove innovation for three generations of gaming platforms from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 5.
Mumbauer helped bring beloved gaming characters such as Nathan Drake of Uncharted & Joel & Ellie of The Last of Us & Deacon St. John of Days Gone to life. He was a critical development partner for Naughty Dog, & he helped deliver the Last of Us Part II.
In this fireside chat, we will be discussing with Mumbauer about his background at Sony, & how he brought unparalleled visual fidelity to the games he had a part in launching. We will also be discussing why Mumbauer wanted to get into Web 3.0 game development. As we all know, Web 3.0 is very controversial in the gaming community right now. In this fireside chat, we will discuss some of the publicity challenges developing gaming experiences with this technology, & how a company can do it ethically & with integrity. We will learn a bit about what Web 3.0 community driven development means, since most developers are used to contributing plugins to games that aren't on the blockchain; we see this in titles like Minecraft, Roblox, & older titles like Warcraft III & more.
As the organizer of SF Game Development, I'm looking forward to learn more about this topic since this is our first ever discussion publicly about the pros & cons of this technology.
