ANIWA PRESENTS Co-Creating a New Earth with Amazonian leader Benki Piyko
We welcome Benki Piyko, world-renowned spiritual & political leader of the Ashninka tribe & the indigenous spokesman for Aniwa, to lead a conversation about our connection with Earth & why it's important for us to live sustainably & in spiritual & physical alignment with the planet.

IIn his culture, Benki Piyko is considered an Antaviari, a direct messenger of Pawa (God). Benki has been healing people since he was 10 years old, at the age of 12, he championed the rights of his community. From 2005 to 2007 he was the environmental administrator in the region of Acre, Brazil. Since July 2007, he has been head of the Yorenka tame training center in Marechal Thaumaturgo, offering agroforestry courses to indigenous cultures in Acre, through this course Benki also helped many of those cultures to recover their spirituality & lost traditions. Benki has been referred to as the Dalai Lama of the Amazon, he rehabilitates drug-addicted & alcohol youth by teaching them to work with the land. Benki has planted over 2 million trees in the past 28 years, reforesting large areas of the Amazon, he also has bred & repopulated a few endangered species in his region & created the world's first eco market which exchanges plastic for food, in Marechal Thaumaturgo. His work has gained him international renown as well as many awards, including UN's Equator Prize.
