Jack Flintermann will discuss "Great polish features for map-based iOS apps."
He'll talk about reverse-engineering Apple's built-in Maps app to unlock its location-sharing mechanism. It's an interesting technical dive which crosses across the MapKit and AddressBook frameworks. He'll show us how to duplicate Google's double-tap-and-pan-to-zoom functionality. Both features, while small, can really improve the experience for navigating between and sharing places on a map.
Jack Flintermann is an iOS and Ruby developer living in NYC. Formerly the lead mobile engineer at Grouper, he now builds things for Stripe.
