We're hosting our third ever 5G Edge Lightning Talks: an opportunity to bring together 5G Edge practitioners to share best practices, lessons learned, & practical advice for developers hoping to get started!
Join us for our third-ever 5G Edge Lightning Talks: a community-driven forum led by developers, architects, & engineers who all share a passion for building applications at the network edge. In this event, hear from a variety of thought leaders about their experiences with building on Verizon 5G Edge with AWS Wavelength, architecture best practices, or real-world applications in-use by customers today. Each speaker will receive 10 minutes for their session followed by a brief audience Q&A.
By embedding AWS compute & storage services at the edge of Verizon 5G network, Verizon 5G Edge with AWS Wavelength enables developers to serve edge computing use cases that require low latency like machine learning inference at the edge, accelerating video streams at the edge, remote video production at the edge, C-V2X, Internet of Things (IoT), & game streaming.
This event is intended for developers, DevOps engineers, or SREs interested in learning more about how to build & deploy interactive applications at the network edge.
Robert joined Verizon's Corporate Strategy team in October 2019 & is principally focused on leading their Developer Relations efforts for 5G Edge, Verizon's edge computing portfolio. In this capacity, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of their corporate engineering blog, designs developer tutorials & training modules, & works with large enterprise customers to solve their business challenges using automation, hybrid networking, & the edge cloud.
Prior to Verizon, he served as a Network Architect for a blockchain infrastructure project, supporting a number of network planning initiatives to mitigate cybersecurity risks.
Jaxon has 25 years of experience architecting, designing, & developing enterprise software. He is the founder of three technology startups & has consulted with multiple Fortune 500 companies on IoT & Digital Transformation initiatives. A partially-reformed developer, he understands what it's like to wrestle with technology instead of benefiting from it, & believes passionately that if the Jetsons never had an episode where a config file error brought down the food-o-matic, it surely should not be a problem now.
Vivek is an experienced business & technology leader with over 15 years experience in a variety of industries including Telecommunications, Education, Retail, Utilities, Health & Aviation Sectors through Asia, North America & Australia.
He is a thought leader in the fields of Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Big Data & the Internet of Things (IoT). Vivek is a creative, solutions-oriented professional with a distinct ability to develop & implement innovative business solutions. His various roles have required him to lead, develop & implement ICT organizational & strategic change, provide technology leadership & to govern the implementation of significant programs of works.
Brad Schmitt is a Principal Solutions Architect & joined New Relic in June 2018. With a background in monitoring & observability, he has a decade of experience working with enterprise customers across the globe in various pre-sales roles. When he's not tinkering with 5G Edge use cases, his passion is Kubernetes where he's firmly in the camp of "kube control" & not "kube cuddle". Based in Kansas City, MO, Brad fills his spare time enjoying the outdoors, hiking, traveling, & playing golf.
Yamillet (Yami) Payano is a first-generation Afro-Latina. Currently, she is developing the go-to-market strategy, fundraising efforts, & has written technical & business domain documentation for Sign-Speak. Her technical expertise spans a variety of domains, including data-based statistical systems & data science. Yami is passionate about Diversity & Inclusion, not just from the lens of race & gender but also from the lens of accessibility.
Nicholas Wilkins was first introduced to Deaf culture while studying for his degree at RIT. He fell in love with not only the language, but also the thriving & vibrant community. He learned ASL in a year & after obtaining a BS in Computational mathematics & MS in Computer Science, he went to further his career as a Software Engineer at Google for two years. Unsatisfied with Big-Tech, he decided to start Sign-Speak with Niko & Yami. He is passionate about using deep-tech to improve the equity of modern-day solutions.
