Creative lab for Black boys to explore identity, culture & storytelling through AI.
KINGS IN THE MAKING: The AI Lab - Ancestral Artificial Intelligence is a one-of-a-kind creative experience where Black boys ages 14-18 (high school aged youth) to explore identity, self-expression, & ancestral wisdom using emerging AI tools. Hosted at the KOOLabs Design Center & Production House in Oakland, this 4-hour hands-on lab blends technology, storytelling, & cultural pride in a space designed for curiosity, creativity, & connection.
Participants will dive into interactive activities led by Black creatives & educators, using tools like ChatGPT, generative art platforms, music-making software, & storytelling prompts rooted in African diasporic traditions. Through this experience, youth will build new skills, express their ideas, & explore how the past can power the future, all while creating something of their own to take home.
