EVENT DETAILS
Come join us at Velos for an evening of tech talks on the latest in Android! Enjoy snacks/drinks while you network with great speakers, as well as other Android engineers.
Speakers:
Marina Tanasyuk

Marina transitioned from network security into android development two years ago. She is currently working on the Android app on the fulfillment side at Instacart. MVI pattern adaptation was an involved process on her team & she is excited to share the gist of it with you along with potential benefits.
Parth Padgaonkar

Parth has been developing Android apps since 2013, & knows just enough RxJava to get into (and out of) trouble. He currently works at August Home, leading the Android team to create a faster & safer home access experience. He received a B.A. in Linguistics & Cognitive Science from Claremont McKenna College, & very occasionally puts it to use when iterating on UI. He's worked on 8 different Android apps & SDKs - here's to many more!
Schedule:
6:30PM - 7:00PM: Networking/Refreshments
7:00PM - 7:30PM: Marina Tanasyuk, "MVI & its Benefits"
7:30PM - 8PM: Parth Padgaonkar, "Fantastic Async & Where to Find Them"
"As Android developers in the modern age, we're spoiled for choice when it comes to asynchronous tools: RxJava, LiveData, Kotlin Coroutines & now with AndroidX, ListenableFuture! But how do these architectures scale? How easy is it to onboard new developers? How performant is it?
In this whirlwind expedition, we'll adventure in search of fantastic async solutions to your concurrency problems, spending time to discuss strengths, tradeoffs, & sharp edges; we'll end with how to implement a flexible, scalable architecture for your application, big or small."
8PM - 8:30PM: Wrap-up
