Central New York is a diamond in the rough, but its bling is shining brighter every day.
There's good reason for the excitement & anticipation of the NY Drone Testing Corridor. The development of the drone corridor is expected to unlock a trillion-dollar global industry & attract business development & new drone technology to the entire state, but specifically to Central New York. This much is fact, for anyone interested in developing businesses, solutions or services in this hot emerging technology (whether they are drone experts or non-technical & new to droning), CENTRAL New York is where the action, the money, & opportunities are.
Andrew Cuomo has allocated $50 million of the Upstate Revitalization Initiative funding towards the development of a 50-mile Central NY drone testing corridor (the first of its kind ever) & $230,000 toward six drone research projects at Syracuse University. And he has plans (if all goes well) to invest an additional $230 million dollars to develop, among other things, an air traffic management system for unmanned aerial vehicles so they can be safely integrated into the nation's commercial airspace.
Amidst the major capital investment in Central New York is a burgeoning start community that is oozing opportunities for any entrepreneur is interested in helping to define the future of drones. GENUIS NY (the world's largest accelerator competition for drones at The Tech Garden in Central New York, awarding up to $2.7 million in prizes to drone startups) is at the forefront of bringing entrepreneurs from all over the world to Central NY to imagine a world powered by drones.
