Join us for our annual community-driven public interest technology conference. Participants come to learn, network, & collaborate around public interest technology, data, & design in New York City. With programming support from the Open Data Team at the NYC Office of Technology & Innovation, our conference convenes city officials, technologists, designers, data analysts, & community members around open data, civic technology, & service design in New York City.

Our conference will be at CUNY School of Law on March 23rd, 2024, to commemorate the 14th anniversary of International Open Data Day, the 12th anniversary of the City's transformative Open Data Law, & the conclusion of NYC Open Data Week.

There will be panels, workshops, demos, talks, presentations, & office hours with NYC agencies, on topics such as digital inclusion, service design & delivery, digital literacy, open data & data standards, & civic engagement. We want to equip YOU with tools & information to empower you to build a better civic society for ALL New Yorkers.

General Event Information:

Looking for the program?

This year's program will feature over 30 sessions. Session descriptions are posted at < https://nycsodata24.sched.com >. Other updates will be posted to the conference website at schoolofdata.nyc, & in the NYC Open Data Week mailing list & BetaNYC's LinkedIn newsletter.

What is included in my ticket?

All tickets include access to a full day of conference sessions, lunch, snacks, & coffee.

Event Accessibility?

This year's venue is easily accessed by public transit, bike, bus, & car. The conference will be delivered in English & will use technical terms. ASL interpreters will be provided upon request. The venue itself is ADA-compatible. All-gender restrooms are accessible on the third floor. There is a lactation room accessible on the second floor. Service animals are always accepted. If you need sign language interpretation or have any other questions/concerns, please email us at < schoolofdata@beta.nyc >.

Childcare:

This year, we have contracted Smart Sitting for on-site childcare for children under the age of 18. In order to use this service, you MUST be a ticket-holder, & you MUST register your child(ren) before March 21 by acquiring a Childcare Ticket on Eventbrite. Each child you register requires a ticket registration. There are limited spots available, so please sign up sooner rather than later!

Childcare is provided from 9:00am to 4:45pm at the venue. School of Data is family-friendly & encourages older children to attend conference sessions with their parent/caregivers. If your child(ren) are sick or have a temperature, PLEASE stay home. Also, if your child(ren) are able to wear a mask, please do so.

For any questions about childcare, please email us at < schoolofdata+children@beta.nyc >.

Code of Conduct

BetaNYC is committed to hosting safe & open spaces for all. By participating in this space you are committing yourself to BetaNYC's Code of Conduct & Anti-Harassment Policy.

Health Policy

If you're not feeling well, PLEASE stay home. We strive to create a safe environment for everyone. (Please see our refund policy for questions.) To attend this in-person event, you MUST wear a high-quality mask at all times (except when eating & drinking). We will have ample KF-94 masks in various sizes for you to wear. Masks keep our staff, volunteers, & attendees safe. Masking helps prevent the spread - this is science, based on data!

Refund Policy

Contact us to request a refund. We will try to honor all of your refund requests < schoolofdata+refund@beta.nyc >. Eventbrite's fees are non-refundable, so they won't be returned to the ticket buyer unless the event is canceled, or if the buyer requests a refund for a duplicate charge within 7 days of purchase.
