In this workshop we will discuss how to create a financial model for a pre-revenue software or service startup. Our seven business models encompass all possible monetization revenue streams for any software or service startup.

In addition to explaining how to create assumptions & income statement projections for each business model, we will also discuss:

1. How to model various user/customer acquisition strategies, including those driven by advertising budgets, the number of participants & the number of salespeople.

2. Creating assumptions for & modeling a weighted average price for a range of products or services.

3. Creating assumptions for & modeling a weighted average price for in-app purchases for mobile apps.

4. A user modeling exercise.

5. An affiliate/ direct advertising model that demonstrates an affiliate-to-direct transition as well negotiating revenue share from an affiliate network.

6. An advertising revenue model that estimates the number of click-throughs. And much more.

Founder of the Startup Station Meetup

Victoria Yampolsky, CFA, is the President of the Startup Station,a finance & strategy consultancy for early stage startups that focuses on formulating monetization strategies, financial modeling & valuation. She's also founder of the Startup Station - Finance School for Entrepreneurs where she teaches finance to early stage startup founders.

She is an advisor to Jotteq, Opkix, & Stringflix, as well as founder of several ventures in media & entertainment. Previously, Victoria worked in Deutsche Bank Research & did IT consulting for CapGemini's Financial Services Division. Victoria holds a Bachelor's Degree, Cum Laude, in Computer Science, with minor in Mathematics, from Cornell University & an MBA, with honors, from Columbia Business School. Victoria is also on the Advisory Board of the CIS Department of Cornell University.
