On August 7, 2025, discover how AI is actually transforming newsrooms beyond the hype-from research & fact-checking to content creation & distribution. Understand the technical foundations of AI models, the business realities driving adoption decisions, & why implementation often stalls even when technology works.
As part of the event series LAYERS, by Swissnex in San Francisco, we're bringing together journalists, technologists, & entrepreneurs to explore how artificial intelligence travels from code to content & from concept to impact. There's a lot of buzz around AI, many announcements & experiments.
But what's really happening in newsrooms right now? Who is implementing new solutions & what challenges do they face?
Algorithms are generating content at unprecedented speed while newsrooms navigate budget pressures & feel uncertain about adopting tools they're still learning to understand. AI isn't just changing how stories get told, it's reshaping the entire cycle: research, verification, creation, editing, distribution.
This evening we'll pull back each layer. First, the mechanics: how today's models actually get trained & implemented. Next, the economics & accountability: how existing business models, investment decisions, & guardrails intersect to shape what gets adopted & how risks get managed.
Finally, real-world implementation: where the rubber meets the road in actual newsrooms & why adoption stalls even when the technology works.
An international panel of speakers will discuss this transformation. Join us for an evening that cuts through the noise to show the real story, from prototype to publication.
