Detoxing from Plastic: Documentary Screening, Panel Discussion & Networking Reception
Plastic pollution doesn't stop at the ocean - & neither do its impacts.
The same chemicals & microplastics contaminating our seas & wildlife are showing up in the human body, with growing evidence linking them to hormone disruption, fertility issues, & chronic disease. Join us for a special screening of The Plastic Detox, a powerful new documentary that reveals how plastic is not just polluting our planet-but our bodies. Following the abbreviated screening of the documentary, we will host a panel discussion featuring Academy Award-winning director Louie Psihoyos, Emmy Award-winning co-director & producer Josh Murphy, & leading epidemiological scientist Dr. Shanna Swan, whose groundbreaking research on fertility & endocrine-disrupting chemicals is featured in the documentary. They will be joined by fertility specialist Dr. Thalia Seagal for a conversation exploring the real-world health impacts of plastic exposure & what we can do about it. The discussion will be moderated by Dianna Cohen, Co-Founder & Chief Vision Officer of Plastic Pollution Coalition.
The event will be followed by a networking reception with light bites & coffee. The event is hosted in partnership with Earth Island Institute, Plastic Pollution Coalition, Oceanic Preservation Society, the Oceanic Preservation Society, & storytelling nonprofit Land And Sea For All.
