Description: In the dbt Labs on dbt series, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how dbt Labs uses our own product. You'll learn how dbt Labs thinks about the role of data, how data developers collaborate with business leaders, & the technical decisions we've made in our own dbt project.
Title/Topic: "Analytics Engineer Data Analyst -- brought to you by dbt Cloud." In this particular session, Paige Berry (Sr. Data Analyst, dbt Labs) & Lauren Benezra (Senior Analytics Engineer, dbt Labs) will discuss how they work on projects together, how they collaborate, & how they build solutions from end-to-end.
Speaker bios:
Paige Berry is a Senior Data Analyst at dbt Labs, where she loves being a data investigative journalist (e.g. finding the scoop in the data), & making custom emojis for the company Slack. She's been working with data for two decades, getting her start as a programmer/analyst in higher ed in 2004 before diving into the world of SaaS tech companies in 2018. Discovering analytics engineering & dbt two years later was a game changer. Outside of work, she enjoys making 1:24 scale miniature houses from kits, exploring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, researching who to add to/drop from her fantasy hockey & football team lineups, or reading an anthology of science fiction short stories with one of her several cats snoozing on her lap.
Lauren Benezra is a Senior Analytics Engineer at dbt Labs, & a full-time cat lady. Before discovering analytics engineering, she earned a Master's in Applied Math, modeling biological systems & cat population dynamics. Later, she became an automation engineer, building all-things-code for data systems & laboratory robotics in the biotech world, where she discovered her love of organizing the unorganized, & the world of dbt. Beyond her day job, trains Jiu-Jitsu, socializes her feral foster cats, & snuggles with her own three cats.
