What is the Game Developers Conference?
GDC is the game industry's premier professional event, championing game developers & the advancement of their craft.
The Game Developers Conference (GDC) brings the game development community together to exchange ideas, solve problems, & shape the future of the industry across five days of education, inspiration, & networking. The Independent Games Festival honors the most innovative & exemplary projects in indie game development.
GDC also hosts semi-annual installments of the GDC Masterclass program, which is comprised of day-long or multi-day, small-group virtual workshops that deliver in-depth, hands-on training around some of the most important challenges facing game developers today.
The Game Developers Conference began as an informal gathering of 25 developers in the living room of game designer Chris Crawford. Initially focused on computer games, GDC has grown & diversified along with the game industry to include a variety of platforms including consoles, mobile & handheld devices, tablets, online, & computer games & is expanding into the emerging VR & AR space for games & entertainment. In 2016, GDC commemorated the 30th edition of the conference. Year after year, GDC continues to define market innovations & provide insight into the future of games.
GDC at a Glance
GDC will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, March 20-24, 2023 with conference sessions will be taking place each day, Monday - Friday.
This year's event will deliver the industry's greatest source of content & connections-with plenty of exciting talks, sessions, & networking events & is strongly dedicated to health & safety.
