EVENT DETAILS
It's time for another Hardware Meetup! Can you believe we've been meeting virtually for 10 months now?

This month, we'll hear from two great speakers from different ends of the hardware world: open-source vs. enterprise.

Thank you to our sponsor Onshape (https://bit.ly/366REyL) for making this event possible. Onshape is a next-generation SaaS design platform that speeds up product development. Its an all-in-one system that combines CAD, release management, workflow, collaboration, analytics, admin tools, & an API with more than 50 engineering applications. Onshape helps extended design teams work together faster & helps executives make better business decisions.

Heres the rough agenda for the evening:

7:00 - 7:10pm Mingling in breakout rooms

7:10 - 7:20pm Welcome notes

7:20 - 8:00pm Helen Leigh is a creative technologist who specializes in music technologies & experimental electronics. She is Head of Community at Crowd Supply (https://www.crowdsupply.com/), a crowdfunding platform for open, ethical hardware products. Helen will explore what open source hardware actually means & how engineers, academics & scientists are using it to work together & share knowledge all over the world. Well also learn about some inspiring open source hardware engineers, including Twitch streamers, successful independent product designers, & a team on a mission to create a computer system that is open source all the way down to the lowest level possible -- the transistor.

8:00 - 8:40pm Sam Parks a former applied physicist with a background in quantum computing nanotechnology & currently the Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer at Sapient Industries (https://sapient.industries). Sapient is a building-wide plug load management system that deploys thousands of sensors into a single building to learn & automate more energy-efficient behavior. Sam will be talking about Sapient's strategy of using off-the-shelf commodity hardware to grow before manufacturing their own devices.

8:40 - 9:00pm Community announcements

See you soon!
