EVENT DETAILS
NOTE: Attendance for Part 1 is NOT required to join this study group.

Learn the fundamentals of deep learning with PyTorch! During this beginner friendly, self-guided learning series you will be introduced to key concepts to building machine learning models in multiple domains including speech, vision, & natural language processing. Join us for one or all four sessions! Each week we will cover one of four modules in a self-guided study session followed by an Ask Me Anything segment with course content creator(s).

Modules include:
Week 1 - Get started with PyTorch: Intro to PyTorch
Week 2 - Get started with PyTorch: Introduction to Computer Vision <-- we are here this week!
Week 3 - Get started with PyTorch: Introduction to Natural Language Processing
Week 4 - Get started with PyTorch: Introduction to Audio Classification

Ask questions and/or provide feedback during Ask Me Anything at the end of each session or in our event Slack channel. Microsoft is excited to share this new technical course with our community before it goes live to the public!

ABOUT
------------------------
Week 2
Title: Get started with PyTorch: Introduction to Computer Vision
Description: In this weeks session you will get an introduction to Computer Vision using one of the most popular deep learning frameworks, PyTorch! We will use image classification tasks to learn about convolutional neural networks, & then learn how pre-trained networks & transfer learning can improve our models & solve real-world problems. We will cover how to represent images as tensors, feed neural network images, convolutional neural network architecture & use pre-trained networks to solve real-world problems, minimize number of required data samples & build more accurate models.
Who: Dmitry recorded intro (~10 min) & Seth AMA at end
Date: Wednesday, May 12, 2021

SPEAKER BIO
------------------------
Dmitry Shoskinov is a Microsoft veteran, working for more than 13 years. He started as a Technical Evangelist, & in this role presented on numerous conferences, including twice being on stage with Steve Ballmer. He then worked for 2 years as Senior Software Engineer, helping big European companies to start pilot digital transformation projects based on in AI & ML. As Cloud Developer Advocate, Dmitry focuses on creating educational content & working with academic & research institutions. He is also an Associate Professor at MIPT, HSE & MAI in Moscow, a big fan of functional programming & F#, & a maintainer/primary developer of mPyPl library. In his spare time, Dmitry explores Science Art & Technological Magic, as well as performs Chinese tea ceremonies. He can be reached at http://soshnikov.com.
