About Naomi Pena

Hi Friend! My heart is dancing at the milagro that brought you here.

My name is Naomi Fierro Pea (she/her/ella), & I am the Founder & CEO of That Art Party, art & play for BIPOC adults.

I love astrology & spending quality time with my wife & dogson, Panchito. I am a millennial born & raised in San Francisco, California to a family of Mexican immigrants. I left my full time job as an educator after years of dancing my way through the oppressive systems seeking to confine my light.

The Bay Area taught me a love for art, an appreciation for what makes us weird, & a natural inclination to get hella hyphy. My ancestors & elders taught me to hustle hard, & to play even harder. And in true Aquarius style, I seek out the unconventional & aspire to longevity, hope, & healing.

That Art Party is an amalgamation of all the things that make me - & perhaps us - human. I started this experience as an altar to the inner child who was forced to grow up too soon, to problem-solve the world, & to serve everyone else before herself. I see you. As a queer, woman of color, I started That Art Party as a sacred space to honor our need for creative rest. BIPOC adults deserve art. We deserve to play.

Art & play are not a luxury, nor do they belong to whiteness. Ritualizing art & play is how we move from surviving to thriving. We are art, & we deserve safe spaces to relish in it. Join me to see what comes of our radical curiosity as we play through the seasons & make art along the way.

Cafe Colucci serves a traditional Ethiopian dishes made with fresh heirloom spices but it didn't start that way. When Cafe Colucci opened in 1991, it was a small Italian cafe that had a few Ethiopian dishes on the menu. There weren't many East African spots in Oakland at the time & people were excited to have a place to get Ethiopian food & coffee.

Founder Fetlework Tefferi has a legacy of sharing the beauty of East African cuisine & culture. In the early 90's she ran an Afrocentric night club that hosted artists from across Africa. Cafe Colucci, our restaurant was next. Most recently, Brundo Ethiopian Spice Company, was created to source the freshest traditionally processed heirloom spices.

Fetlework brought on family friend, Daniel Aderaw Yeshiwas as General Manager. He helped open the new location & added the bar program in 2023 -featuring African spirits & local Black wine makers.
