EVENT DETAILS
Join Light Dao & conscious entrepreneurs & investors for an evening filled with connection, deep conversations, & a fireside chat with Spencer Glendon, a founder of Probable Futures, & Aryuna Merdygeeva, Light Dao's Founding Partner (New York).nLight Dao is a fast-growing trusted global community of over 600 entrepreneurs & investors with curated in-person & online gatherings & experiences in LA, NYC, SF, Dubai, & Taipei, with plans to expand to Puerto Rico, Lisbon, Shanghai, London, Australia & beyond in 2024. Our heartfelt mission is to expand the collective consciousness & co-create a thriving regenerative future for humanity.nSpecial guest: Spencer Glendon, a founder of Probable FuturesnProbable Futures is a non-profit climate literacy initiative that makes practical tools & educational resources available online to everyone, everywhere.nThey exist to help communities, governments, businesses, & individuals prepare for the climate futures that are likely, & work to avoid the ones that carry the most profound risks for our world.nSpencer earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University & a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University, where he focused on the history of urbanization & industrialization. He has extensive training & experience in finance, history, & languages & has worked & lived in Michigan, Chicago, Germany, Russia, China, & Boston.nFor 18 years, Spencer was a Macroanalyst, Partner, & Director of Investment Research at Wellington Management, a firm with more than $1 trillion in client assets. In that role, he endeavored to understand issues that could affect markets, but that fell outside of the typical silos in finance, such as the modernization of China, the consequences of ubiquitous information & computing, political risk, inequality, & eventually, climate change.nIn 2017, Spencer began collaborating with scientists, business leaders, designers, technologists, & educators to research the effects of climate change & to share those findings publicly. This work helped underpin initiatives such as a first-of-its-kind partnership between Wellington Management & the Woodwell Climate Research Center, as well as McKinsey & Co.s 2020 Climate Risk & Response report. Inspired by these collaborations, he founded Probable Futures in 2020 to help democratize climate science & build bridges between climate science & many other disciplines.nIn addition to his role at Probable Futures, Spencer serves as a senior fellow at Woodwell Climate & spends time as a pro bono consultant & public speaker across industries & communities. In 2023, Spencer joined Harvard Business School as an Executive Fellow, where he works in collaboration with Michael Toffel & Peter Tufano on research & education around climate risk.n7:00-7:30pm - Welcome & snacks servedn7:30-7:40pm - Introductionn7:40-8:10pm - Connection Experiencen8:10-8:40pm - Fireside chat with Spencern8:40-9:00pm - Business Connectn9:00-9:30pm - Hang out & Wrap-upnVENUE DETAILS: The gathering is in Manhattan, New York.
