Product Management means leadership in various aspects of creating solutions for real-world problems. There are many aspects of this trait that are very important & it is almost impossible to prioritize the critical role one of them plays in the grand scheme of building a product. Today, I would like to touch on three soft skills that a PM must-have in my opinion, & also discuss different tools that one can use to enhance those skills. Good execution is critical to the success of a product & in my experience, I keep coming back to these skills as key factors in PM success.
- Anticipation - are issues, delays, & failures all surprises, or were some already anticipated?
- Confidence - what is a confidence booster for the team? Is the team equipped for handling negativity?
- Enthusiasm - is it contagious? Are the iterative cycles of build-measure-learn taking a toll on the team? Can we sustain for years to come?
Join me as I share stories from my experience working on various products in a start-up, 100+-year-old company, & trillion-dollar company environments.
