Our Meetup this month will be on the LAST Wednesday of the month as venues were occupied on the third.

Thanks a TON to Shutterstock for being our hosts for the evening!

Here are our talks!

Feature Talk:
Brain-Computer Interfaces in Node
The human body is an ocean of electricity. Billions of neurons are constantly engaging as our thoughts go from one state to the next. Come see how we can tap into brain data generated by human cells in Node.

Alex Castillo is a Co-founder at Neurosity, a neurotechnology company reimagining brain-computer interfaces. He is passionate about the human brain, & how we can use it to power next-generation apps. As a Google Developer Expert, Alex has contributed to the open source community with a focus on web technologies & neurotech.

Feature Talk:
Matthew Little will introduce Blockstack - an open decentralize computing network. With Blockstack, developers can simply streamline their application code using Blockstack Auth & Storage Services. They don't have to worry about data liability since users provide their encrypted data. Users manage their own identity across the entire ecosystem & store information in their provider of choice.

Matt is a Full-stack engineer, involved in blockchain related development for over 5 years. He worked as a lead developer at several startups, shipping both developer & consumer-facing products. Prior to Blockstack, Matt was a senior engineer at Hosho & lead development on an Ethereum smart contract development & testing tool suite.

Lightning Talk:
After a successful pilot & alpha run Gina Abrams will also introduce their App Mining Program - a new funding model that allows developers to bootstrap their application. Each month, all registered apps compete to be ranked by expert App Reviewersthe better their app is, the higher the payout they earn. Payouts are $100k in total each month.

Gina Abrams studied Psychology & Social Sciences at Binghamton University. Previously she spent two years in agency technical recruiting, during which time she assisted numerous NYC start-ups in mission-critical DevOps, SRE & Security hire.

***Note on security***: As always, please ensure that you provide us with your full name when RSVPing with a Yes. Building security will need it to grant you access to the event.

We'll be at Shutterstock this month. Thanks to Shutterstock for hosting! It's going to be a great event!

See you there!
