At a time when the for outdoor space in NYC is at a high, how do we ensure that people have access to safe, clean & well-functioning parks? In this Open Data Journey, we'll show you how to explore NYC Open Data to better understand what is happening in the parks & how they are maintained & funded. Grab your picnic basket & join us for a virtual excursion to some of our favorite places to getaway in NYC!
This event is presented by BetaNYC Staff & Civic Innovation Apprentices with kick-off remarks from NYC Council Member Peter Koo, Chair of the Council Committee on Parks & Recreation.
About BetaNYC Open Data Journeys
Explore open data & civic technology with BetaNYC on Fridays at 12:00pm. Open Data Journeys are virtual sessions that demonstrate how you can gain insight into your community using publicly accessible data & civic tech tools. In each journey, BetaNYC Civic Innovation Fellows & Apprentices will pose a topic question & take you on a step by-step investigation to answer it. You will gain insight into our process of accessing, cleaning & manipulating data, & harnessing a string of tools to learn from it. At the end of each journey, we will hold a brief Q&A.
Code of Conduct & Data Collection
BetaNYC is committed to holding safe spaces for all & have a comprehensive Code of Conduct & Anti-Harassment policy for our events. Please review it here < http://bit.ly/betanyc-coc > & if you have any questions get in touch.
As part of our effort to democratize access to NYC open data & government operations, some of our supporters have asked us to track attendance diversity metrics. Your answers to our registration questions are kept private & are only used to evaluate our organizational mission. Thank you for helping us do so by answering them.
