Come join Chris Reid, indie game lawyer, as he takes attendees on a deep dive into the most important & common types of contracts in game development & what you need to know about them.
Class Description
Chris will walk the class through five common & important contracts that developers & games professionals are likely to encounter & need to understand. After covering general tips about understanding contracts, he will go through each type of contract & decode the "legalese", pointing out which clauses are important & why. Attendees will come away with a better understanding of how to assess contracts they are asked to sign, when they need to have contracts in place, & what pitfalls to look out for, both in negotiating an agreement & during a contract dispute. After the presentation, he will field any other general or specific questions to help developers get a handle on what they need to look out for.

About the Instructor
Chris Reidis a games attorney based out of in Brooklyn, NY, where he represents & works with developers & other members of the games industry on a wide range of legal issues. Chris serves on the New York City Bar Association's Information Technology Law Committee & is a member of the State Bar's Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law section's Copyright & Trademark committee. He is an advocate of legal education for new & experienced game developers alike; In addition to running frequent legal education classes with Playcrafting NYC, he has been a speaker on game law issues for GDC, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, the International Fordham IP Conference & IndieCade: East.
