Next Big Sound started with a class assignment at Northwestern University 7 years ago. Now, at the intersection of art and science, they help the music industry navigate the era of big data. On the heels of their acquisition by Pandora Radio (P), we'll discuss the role of academia in the founding and growth of NBS with the company's founders, Alex White (CEO), Samir Rayani (CTO), and David Hoffman (CPO). Following the panel discussion, we'll present an overview of an ongoing Gradfounder study called Music & Modern Fandom, which provides cultural and behavioral context for Next Big Sound+Pandora Radio's big impact.
