How do you build experiences that effectively combine the power of humans & machines, especially when emerging technologies like machine learning & AI are involved? Due to the complexity of interactions, the answer isn't straightforward. Exploring & understanding the expectations for the humans as well as expectations for the machines in different environments can lead us to potential solutions.

During this talk, Chris Butler will take you through the process of building experiences for data science, machine learning, & AI. This will include prototyping & research to understand the assumptions around abstractions, mental models, affordances, interpretability, & trust. The talk will end with how these tools will change the way we do our work as practitioners & make us more effective at our roles.
