Can technology help people feel closer to each other?
Calling all coders, clinicians, connectors, & curious humans: whether you speak Python or just speak human, come join the conversation!
The Social Connection Collective & Fabrik are bringing together the researchers & founders building these tools with HR & corporate wellness leaders, clinicians, investors, & technologists.
In a 2025 essay in Nature Communications, Philosopher Andy Clark argues that people have always thought with tools, from pen & paper to maps to AI, & that what matters is how each partnership between person & tool is designed. If tools can help us think, they can also help us see our relationships more clearly.
Disconnection doesn't look the same for everyone. Someone who moved cities for a job may have no one nearby to call when something goes wrong, while a patient with family close by can still feel that nobody understands what they're going through. A program built for one of them rarely helps the other. This evening looks at technology that can tell situations like these apart, & at what it takes to build it well.
Special guest: Dr. Hans Rocha IJzerman, social psychologist & founder & CEO of Entrelacs, will be interviewed by Odile Beniflah & talk about his research on loneliness & social connection, including a LONELY-EU review of 2,720 questionnaires.
Founders building technology for connection will do rapid pitches (3-5 mins each) & we'll have hands-on time.
See event page with more details & join us!
