Phil Cline will share some of his work on assisting transit agencies with better drawing & dissemination of bus detours at Swiftly

WalkNYC

In May, Joe created WalkNYC, an app that tracks which blocks you've walked. He built it as a personal project while trying to walk every block in Manhattan. Since launch over 25,000 New Yorkers have started using WalkNYC to stay active & explore the city.

About the Speakers
Phil Cline
Software Engineer, Swiftly

Phil Cline is a Brooklyn-based software engineer originally from Toronto who has worked in the transit industry for over 7 years & has a lot of experience with transit data standards like GTFS & GTFS-RT.

Joe Puccio
Creator, WalkNYC & Founder Coursicle

Joe Puccio is a designer & programmer based in NYC. He is the founder of Coursicle, an app used by millions of college students to manage their class schedules & assignments.

A central focus of Joe's work is running his companies ethically & building products that are fundamentally beneficial to people's lives. At Coursicle, all employees receive the same salary, & profits are split among employees at the end of each year.

Joe graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2016 with degrees in Mathematics & Computer Science. He writes about design, technology, & other ideas at joepuccio.com.

The Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP) at NYU Tandon is an interdisciplinary center dedicated to applying science, technology, engineering, math, & social sciences to serve urban communities worldwide.

Founded as a partnership between NYU & the City of New York, CUSP leads research, educational, & entrepreneurial initiatives that advance the science of cities. By applying novel insights to urban issues, we develop data- & technology-driven approaches that drive positive impact. With an additional focus on training future leaders, CUSP offers interdisciplinary academic programs in applied urban science & informatics for graduate students & professionals.

Bringing together the technologists who love transit & the transit enthusiasts who hack! We'll have speakers present transit-related projects.
