TOPIC:Innovating in Times of Transformation
Innovation is hard anywhere. It's particularly hard at a company going through a massive business model transformation. The New York Times has gone from delivering newspapers to people's doorsteps, relying mostly on a print advertising supported model, to now a digital product subscription business. The Times must continue to excel in its core competency, delivering deeply reported stories, while also adapting to a changing landscape. Hear how we create products & processes that have helped The New York Times thrive in the digital era. In this talk, Alex will walk us through creating new products & processes at an organization undergoing a deep transformation in its business model - & way of working.
About the Speaker:Alex MacCallum is the Head of New Products & Ventures at The New York Times, a position she assumed in September of 2017. In her role, she oversees the Cooking & Crosswords products & businesses, as well as new product development. Before joining the Times, Ms. MacCallum was the corporate counsel to The Huffington Post & worked in general management for Lerer Venture backed start-ups. She was also the founding news editor at The Huffington Post, & an editorial aide at The Washington Post, after graduating from Brown University & UC Berkeley School of Law in 2009.
