What if you could see 10 AI tools in action, try them yourself, & use them to solve real problems - all in one session?
Buildfest: Demos & Challenges is a demo day, hands-on event where sponsors will show you what their tools can do, & then give you a small challenge to solve.
No long workshops. No hours of setup.
You'll see try build solve.
Whether you're a developer, student, founder, designer, researcher, or just curious about AI, you can jump in at your level.
Event Format
You'll start with a set of 10 sample datasets covering different real-world problems. You can choose one of them to work with, or bring your own dataset & problem.
[10 Sample Datasets - Link]
Pick a problem
You can work on problems like: Build a system that creates study plans for students, Help shoppers find the right product based on their needs, Automate information extraction & processing from invoices, Build an AI travel planner, Summarize notes & extract important actions, Match candidates to jobs & help recruiters screen applications, Analyze restaurant data & identify inventory/demand problems, Build an AI system that answers common customer questions, Turn a simple idea into a structured content workflow, Find & evaluate promising problems & ideas or choose your own problem & build something that matters to you.
How It Works
Each sponsor will have a short demo + challenge.
First, they'll show you their product in action & explain what it does, why it is useful, & how you can use it.
Then you'll get a small challenge where you can try the tool yourself.
You don't need to use every tool. Use whichever sponsor tools make sense for your problem - one, several, or all of them.
The goal is to understand how each tool can be used & then combine the right tools to solve a problem.
Speakers & Challenges
Builderbase - Sean Chiu
Demo: See how organizers create better events using BuilderBase
Tenki - Colin Lowenburg
Demo: See how to take code or an AI workload & run it in a sandbox or on cloud compute. Learn how runners can make experiments & workloads easier to execute reliably.
Challenge: Take one of the datasets & run an analysis or experiment in Tenki. Change something, run it again, & compare the results.
Flatkey - Sofia Kao
Demo: See how one API can give you access to hundreds of AI models. Try different models on the same task & compare their results, speed, & cost.
Challenge: Pick an AI task from the dataset & test it with multiple models. Decide which model you would use & explain why.
FinChip - Gary Yang
Demo: Learn how to give an AI agent reusable skills so it can perform specific tasks more consistently.
Challenge: Create a skill for a task such as reviewing a resume, analyzing data, or classifying customer requests. Test your skill on multiple examples.
Kylon - Saurabh Khire
Demo: See how to turn a business process into an AI agent that can understand a request, use information, & take action.
Challenge: Build a small agent for a problem such as customer support, recruiting, or research. Decide which parts the agent handles & when it should ask a human.
Ask the W - Yezhisai Murugesan
Demo: Learn how to decide what is actually worth building with AI. Identify which tasks can be automated, where human judgment is needed, & what you should build next.
Challenge: Take one problem & break it into tasks. Decide what an AI agent should do, what a human should do, & where automation would create the most value.
Rocket Ride - Joe Manoichi
Demo: See how to connect multiple steps into an AI/data pipeline directly in your IDE - from raw data to processing, AI calls, & structured output.
Challenge: Turn a messy dataset into a simple pipeline. For example: raw idea AI processing structured result final output.
Sartorial - Sumit Jagdale
Demo: See how product discovery can go beyond simple search by understanding context such as fit, color, material, reviews, images, & why a product should be recommended.
Challenge: Choose a customer & recommend the best product for them. Explain not only what you recommend, but why it is the right choice.
Wasmer - Ayush Ojha
Demo: Learn how WebAssembly can let you package code & run it across different environments. See a piece of code execute without being tied to one specific environment.
Challenge: Take a provided function or your own small workload, run it through Wasmer, change the input, & see how the output changes.
Builderbase - Sean Chiu
Bridge US - Vin Wanfan
Demo: See how Bridge US match right people in events
You Can Mix & Match Tools
The challenges are not isolated.
You can use one tool, several tools, or all of the sponsor tools to solve your problem.
For example, you could:
Choose a problem use Ask the W to plan it use Flatkey to choose a model build a pipeline with Rocket Ride create multiple agents with Kylon do code review in Tenki Run workload in wasmer.
Or ignore that entire workflow & create your own.
The point is to experiment & discover how different AI tools fit together.
Sponsors
Tenki
Tenki provides sandbox environments, cloud compute, & runners for executing code & workloads. It gives builders a place to experiment, run, & scale their work.
Rocket Ride
Rocket Ride helps developers build AI & data pipelines directly in their IDE. It makes it easier to connect data, AI models, processing steps, & outputs into repeatable workflows.
Flatkey
Flatkey is a unified access layer for AI, connecting teams to 328+ official AI models through one API. It supports models from providers such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen, & more, with transparent pricing & automatic failover.
FinChip
FinChip provides agent skills that give AI agents reusable capabilities for performing specific tasks. Skills can help make agents more useful, structured, & consistent.
Kylon
Kylon helps you create AI agents that can run business processes. You can turn workflows into agents that understand tasks, use tools, & take actions.
Ask the W
Ask the W helps you figure out what is worth building with AI. It helps identify good ideas, tasks that can be handled by agents, places where human judgment is needed, & the next steps to take.
Sartorial
Sartorial helps make products more intelligently discoverable & recommendable. It adds context such as social proof, material, fit, color, promotions, image meaning, & brand-specific ranking judgment to product discovery.
Wasmer
Wasmer provides a way to execute WebAssembly universally. It helps developers package & run code across different environments in a portable & consistent way.
Hosts & Partners
Crewbase Collective
Crewbase Collective runs hackathons, builder events, & community experiences across San Francisco. They bring builders together to learn, experiment, & create new ideas.
BuilderBase
BuilderBase is a platform for running world-class hackathons. It helps organizers create better events while giving companies a high-ROI channel for distribution, talent, & product adoption.
