Sports Operations - Kalshi
Kalshi is defining a new category
Kalshi has defined a new category: prediction markets. Kalshi allows people to trade on the outcome of any events & turn any question about the future into a financial asset. Kalshi fought for years & legalized prediction markets in the US for the first time in history. Kalshi is currently the fastest growing financial market in America, & has thousands of markets across politics, economics, financials, weather, tech, AI, culture & more.
We believe prediction markets have the potential to be the largest financial market because they turn anything into a financial position.
Our vision: well build the largest financial market on the planet.
Our mission: bring more truth to the world through the power of markets.
Building a new category is hard like really hard. But it's beautiful & deeply fulfilling. Our culture is simple: we hire really talented people, work really hard, & enjoy the climb. We are looking for ambitious & exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets.
Role Roadmap
In the Sports Operations function at Kalshi, you'll be a critical member ensuring our sports markets run flawlessly. The Sports Operations team is responsible for the precise execution of sports market listings, determinations, & maintaining the integrity of our sports prediction markets. We're scaling rapidly, which means your role will evolve & grow with the company; your initial responsibilities will include:
Sports Market Listing & Determination: Execute the listing of sports markets with precision, ensuring all markets are properly configured & accurately reflect game conditions, player availability, & league rules. Make rapid determinations on market outcomes based on official league data, box scores, & verified sports sources while managing time-sensitive settlement windows.
Sports Market Structuring: Structure sports markets to capture the true axis of disagreement between traders, understanding the nuances between different contract types (spreads, totals, props, futures). Make strategic decisions about how to frame markets around games, seasons, player performances, & sporting events to maximize liquidity & trading interest.
Sports Market Prioritization & Pipeline: Build out & prioritize the sports market listing pipeline across all major leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA) & international competitions. Balance pre-game, in-play, & futures markets while responding to breaking news like injuries, trades, & lineup changes that affect market demand & trading volumes.
League Rules & Settlement Criteria: Maintain encyclopedic knowledge of league-specific rules, tiebreakers, playoff structures, & statistical definitions across all sports. Ensure markets are structured with airtight settlement criteria that account for sport-specific edge cases (rain delays, technical fouls, injury timeouts, VAR decisions, etc.).
Real-time Sports Monitoring: Monitor live games & sports news across multiple leagues simultaneously, quickly responding to events that require market suspension, clarification, or settlement. Manage high-volume periods like NFL Sundays or March Madness with precision while multitasking across numerous concurrent events.
Sports Data Management: Work with structured, time-sensitive sports data feeds to ensure accurate market parameters, real-time updates, & proper settlement. Identify & resolve data discrepancies quickly to maintain market integrity.
Trader Communications: Issue timely clarifications on sports markets when ambiguities arise (injury designations, weather impacts, rule interpretations), maintaining trader trust through clear, authoritative communications about sports-specific situations.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Contracts, Product, & Engineering teams to implement sports-specific operational improvements, integrate new data sources, & expand our sports market offerings.
