Were hiring a Social Media Producer to join our team. This is a full-time, New York City-based position. 

About the team & the role

theSkimm is hiring a full-time Social Media Producer to engage & grow our audiences across social media platforms. Reporting to our Senior Social Media Manager, this role is responsible for ideating & creating social-first content & bringing our lifestyle verticals (wellness, money, parenting) to life on Instagram & TikTok in both static & video formats.

What you'll be doing

  • End-to-end production of static & video content for Instagram & TikTok, including ideation, writing, asset creation, & scheduling
  • Creating assets from existing templates in a timely, thoughtful manner in response to news & pop culture moments
  • Producing, editing & delivering video assets for social using in-app editing tools
  • Scripting & hosting explainer video content & collaborating with a video editor on post-production
  • Embedding with our editorial vertical teams (wellness, money, parenting) to identify opportunities for social engagement
  • Analyzing performance metrics of social content & making recommendations for how to iterate based on the data

What would set you up for success

  • 2-4 years of social media experience at a media company or relevant consumer brand, with emphasis on Instagram & TikTok
  • Experience working in fast-paced production cycles
  • Experience creating visual social assets from templates as well as producing video content for social
  • Engaging on-camera presence & ability to talk for TikTok 
  • You know how to follow a content calendar & use social media publishing tools
  • You understand theSkimms brand & voice & can communicate its message with consistency

What would set you apart

  • You are a news & pop culture junkie
  • You keep up with the industry & can name the latest memes & TikTok trends
  • You are comfortable experimenting & are always thinking of creative ways to tell stories
  • You are data-driven and/or have experience growing digital audiences 
  • You have created social-first franchises (Instagram, TikTok & emerging platforms)
  • Familiarity with Figma, CrowdTangle, Instagram Insights, & Asana

The expected annual base salary for this role is $70,000-$75,000. Well consider a variety of factors when determining the offered base salary including an evaluation of a candidates skills, abilities, experience, location, market demands, & internal parity.

What about the office?

This is a full-time role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work. 

Our office is available to use three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. We have a hybrid environment & ask that employees within the New York Metro area come together in person a minimum of three days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employees during the three days a week that the office will be open.
