We are hiring a US Indirect Tax Lead to support our Sales & Use Tax & Gross Receipts Tax processes. You will report to the Indirect Tax Manager & will focus on the preparation, review, & filing of US indirect tax returns, while also supporting tax accounting, process controls, & audit activities.

You'll Get To...
- Prepare & file US Sales & Use Tax & Gross Receipts Tax returns across multiple US jurisdictions.
- Review tax returns, reconciliations, journal entries, & supporting workpapers to ensure accuracy & completeness.
- Manage filing calendars & track deadlines for quick return submissions & payments.
- Assist with tax technology initiatives, including Vertex system enhancements & process automation projects.
- Perform tax controls, reconciliations, & data analysis to support compliance & reduce risk.
- Collaborate with Tax, Accounting, IT teams, & external service providers to support ongoing compliance & process improvements.
- Research Sales & Use Tax rules & provide guidance to internal teams.
- Support audit processes, including gathering data & responding to tax authority inquiries.
- Draft & maintain technical tax documentation, tax position memos, & process guides.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies & support process improvements across tax reporting & compliance functions.
Who We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field (CPA or equivalent qualification preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in US indirect tax compliance, with a focus on Sales & Use Tax & Gross Receipts Tax.
- Experience using Vertex or similar indirect tax engines for tax determination, compliance, & reporting.
- Experience with indirect tax accounting, including preparation of reconciliations, journal entries, & workpapers.
- Prior involvement in supporting tax audits, including data extraction & handling auditor inquiries.
- Comfortable handling a mix of priorities, can provide clear updates, & you are someone who likes things at a fast-pace.
- Analytical & Proactive in your work
- Experience with cross-team collaboration such as with Tax, Accounting, & Engineering teams.
- Experience with tax technology projects, process automation, & operational improvements.

Cash Compensation Range: $126,500 - $185,000 USD
The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, & location, among other factors.
In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
