As the Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory, you will be based in New York City & play a key role in supporting the company's regulatory & compliance efforts & overseeing litigation. This position is responsible for providing expert legal counsel on a wide range of healthcare regulatory matters, including optometry, opticianry, telehealth, & FDA compliance. What youll do:
- Advise internal teams on a wide range of healthcare regulatory matters related to the provision of holistic vision care, including optometry & opticianry, state corporate practice of medicine laws, telehealth, FTC & FDA compliance, as well as anti-kickback statutes.
- Develop & implement compliance strategies, policies, & procedures that support rapid growth & innovative digital health offerings.
- Support regulatory litigation & enforcement matters, including responding to subpoenas & inquiries, conducting investigations & negotiating resolutions to disputes.
- Provide legal support for new growth initiatives & partnerships that drive the expansion of the companys vision care offerings.
- Monitor new state & federal legislation to ensure compliance.
- Provide guidance with respect to key agreements with partners & third parties.
- Advise on the companys government affairs strategy.
Who you are:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school & licensed to practice law in New York.
- Backed by 7+ years of relevant experience in healthcare law, preferably including both law firm & in-house legal department roles, or a combination of training & experience that demonstrates equivalent expertise.
- Strong working knowledge of federal & state healthcare laws & regulations relevant to our business, including FDA, Medicare/Medicaid, & corporate practice of medicine (CPOM) rules; international regulatory experience considered a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in providing clear, practical legal guidance, with proven drafting, negotiation, & research abilities.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across legal & business teams.
