Smart design is looking for a temporary systems engineer for a ~3 month engagement with potential to be extended or transition to full-time.

Basics you will need for this role:
- Ability to stretch into adjacent discipline (For example: Focus on embedded development but able to do some mechanical engineering work.)
- Interest & ability to work with various technical & non-technical disciplines
- Attention to project goals & ability to work through technical tradeoffs for feasibility & scheduling purposes
- A solid grasp of digital & physical fundamentals
- Understanding of agile processes in software development
- Experience with version control as applied to software development
- Efficiency in building mixed (digital/physical) prototypes of various complexity
- Familiarity with working on software, electrical & mechanical aspects of hardware
- Interest in mixed (electrical, mechanical, software, design) projects & systems
Required experience:
- Working with microcontrollers on development boards as well a custom boards
- Working & specifying LED lighting power supplies & controls
- Assembly of wire harnesses & connectors
- KiCad
- Working & installing cameras & optics to custom hardware
- Connecting custom hardware to power supplies
- Hardware development including circuit design, analysis, verification, fabrication & assembly
Any experience in the following list would be a plus:
- Embedded software development (C/C++, ARM, ATMEL)
- Software development in Linux environment (Python/C++)
- Python version management & use of virtual environments for python development
- Design of mechanical components for mixed systems
- Fabrication of mechanical components for quick prototyping
- DFMA for both mechanical & electronic components or systems for piloting purposes (10 to 500 units.)
- 2D or 3D CAD basics with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or CREO
