The Role
HuffPost is seeking a Senior Editor to oversee the newsrooms coverage of Family & Relationships. This is a full-time hybrid position, with the expectation of commuting to our New York City office twice a week at minimum.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape two essential areas of HuffPost Lifes coverage:
- HuffPost Family is a new vertical that will explore the real, unfiltered lives of modern-day families in all their glory, beyond traditional views or run-of-the-mill parenting content. Candid advice columns, revealing personal stories & sharp reporting will feature a diverse range of voices to reflect the most compelling topics that matter to readers, whether theyre a single parent, uncle, oldest child, in-law or chosen family.
- HuffPost Relationships digs into the ties that bind (and sometimes break) us, including marriage, friendship, sibling dynamics, dating, sex & so much more. Juicy personal stories & frank reporting will answer readers most confidential curiosities & shed light on the topics that theyre dying to read about, even if theyre too embarrassed to talk about them.
The ideal candidate is an experienced editor & a proven thought leader with vision & drive to rethink our coverage. They should be on the pulse of todays most talked-about topics to provide up-to-date insight, story ideas, inspiration & guidance to beat the competition to the most compelling & timely topics. In order to feature dynamic voices & a range of perspectives, the Senior Editor should have a robust roster of writers at their disposal & an ability to assign stories at a moments notice.
Perhaps most importantly, this Senior Editor should be willing & able to push boundaries, shatter stereotypes, approach stories with curiosity, brilliantly package stories & help writers inject voice into their stories where appropriate. Its essential that the Senior Editor has the acumen to identify the type of content & packaging that can not only draw readers, but also redefine our coverage & effectively convey that story to our sales team. And in addition to owning these two beats, the Senior Editor must also be a team player who contributes overall to general Life coverage.
