WHO WE ARE

New York Magazine is seeking a strategic, creative, & data-driven Director of Consumer Marketing to lead the vision & execution of marketing initiatives across our portfolio of brands. This leadership role will be responsible for developing & optimizing full-funnel marketing strategies that grow audience engagement, drive subscriptions, & elevate brand loyalty across digital & offline channels.

As a key member of the Consumer Revenue team, you will oversee campaigns that span awareness, consideration, conversion, & retention. Youll bring a deep understanding of audience behavior & marketing performance metrics to craft compelling, results-oriented strategies. Working cross-functionally with teams including Brand, Editorial, Analytics, Product, & Engineering, you will ensure that our marketing efforts are cohesive, innovative, & aligned with the broader objectives of New York Magazine.

WHAT YOULL DO

  • Lead Consumer Marketing Strategy:Develop & execute integrated marketing strategies that support audience growth, brand awareness, product adoption, & revenue generation. Own & evolve the full marketing funnel, from campaign ideation through execution & performance analysis.
  • Oversee Multi-Channel Campaigns: Manage marketing initiatives across a range of channels including digital (email, social media, display, search), offline (print, OOH, events, podcasts), & partnerships (affiliate, influencer, sponsorships). Optimize campaigns for both short-term performance & long-term brand value.
  • Data-Driven Insights & Performance Optimization: Leverage data & analytics to inform marketing strategies & tactics. Collaborate with Analytics & Data Science teams to develop performance dashboards, run A/B tests, & use insights to iterate & improve campaign results.
  • Audience-Centric Messaging & Positioning: Work closely with Brand & Editorial teams to ensure consistent & compelling messaging that resonates with core audience segments. Tailor marketing narratives to drive engagement & brand affinity while respecting the editorial voice.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Creative, Editorial, & Revenue to support launches, promotions, & initiatives that require coordinated go-to-market planning. Drive alignment & communication across departments.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage & mentor performance marketing team. Establish KPIs, set performance targets, & foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, & accountability.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 8+ years of experience in consumer marketing, brand marketing, or growth marketing within a media, publishing, or direct-to-consumer business.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage & scale marketing programs across multiple channels.
  • Strong track record of planning & executing successful marketing campaigns that drive audience growth & revenue.
  • Deep understanding of marketing tech stacks, customer journeys, & data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication & storytelling skills, with the ability to translate insights into strategic action & clearly present to leadership.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, & resourcefulable to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Familiarity with subscription & membership models is a strong plus.
