Squarespace is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Platforms Group. Data Platforms is focused on building interoperable software, data products & processes to provide relevant data-driven insights to our internal & external customers.

As part of the Data Acquisition & Curation team within Data Platforms, you will design core data models & develop foundational data products that empower Squarespace to deliver personalized customer experiences. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to make data accessible, trusted, & expand data's impact across the organization

You will report to the manager of Data Acquisition & Curation. This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week.

You'll Get To

  • Build, scale, & maintain core data model & data products to power personalization & analytics across product engineering & data teams.
  • Design & deploy efficient, reliable pipelines for data ingestion & transformation
  • Deploy inclusive data quality checks to ensure quality & timeliness of data, & diagnose/fix issues to ensure SLAs
  • Work with other engineers to improve reliability, documentation & automation to simplify self-service support for data products
  • Implement data governance principles, including data classification, data ownership, & data stewardship as part of our core data pipelines
  • Drive platform tooling toward self-service, improving usability & accelerating data product development
  • Collaborate with product manager & product engineers, data owners, data stewards & customers to implement & maintain data products to serve analytics, ML & reporting needs

Who We're Looking For

  • 5+ years experience leading design, implementation, & monitoring of large-scale data warehouses & data marts
  • 5+ years experience building data products that are well-modeled, documented & easy to understand & maintain
  • 5+ years of experience building robust data pipelines to ingest, process, & ensure data quality from disparate sources
  • Strong expertise in SQL & performance tuning
  • Strong familiarity with dbt & orchestration tools like Airflow
  • Programming experience in Python, Scala or other language(s)
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles & their integration into data pipeline design
  • Experience working with modern data storage (BigQuery, Postgres) & services in cloud environment(s) like GCP
  • Experience leading small project teams, mentoring more junior engineers, & scoping work
  • Experience designing & developing robust APIs for data integration & accessibility
  • Experience building real-time streaming data pipelines using frameworks like Apache Spark
  • Familiarity with asynchronous eventing systems such as Kafka

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 - $207,000 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, & location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
